Nobody knows what a gigabyte of logs is. You know how many log lines your app writes. We count those.
An event is one log line, one span, one error, or one developer event — pooled, mix them however your app does. 20M events is, for example, roughly 14M logs + 4M spans + 1M errors + 1M developer events.
When you hit your limit we throttle politely and tell you loudly — we never silently charge. And errors always ingest, alerts always fire, on every plan, even over the limit.
The plans are about what you unlock, not who can log in. Every teammate who jumps in to help costs you nothing, on every plan.

Frequently asked questions
- What counts as an event?
- A log line, a trace span, an error, and a developer event all share one pooled monthly meter — mix them however your application does. Metric series are metered separately (see below), because they don’t scale with traffic the way events do.
- What about metrics?
- Metrics don’t fit the events pool — a single gauge scraped every ten seconds emits data points all month whether your app does anything or not. So we meter the unit you can actually reason about: active series, how many distinct things you’re tracking. Datapoints themselves are never limited or counted.
- What happens when I hit my plan limit?
- We throttle politely and tell you loudly — a banner in the product and an email before anything is ever dropped, never a silent change. Verbose logs degrade first, then spans, and the current state is always visible in your usage page. Errors always ingest and alerts always fire, on every plan, even over the limit — we never let you go blind during an incident.
- Do you charge per seat?
- No. Seats are unlimited on every plan, including Free. The rungs are about what you unlock — volume, history, and advanced features — not how many people on your team can log in.
- Can I bring my own AI?
- Yes — the Teml MCP server is free on every plan, including Free. Point Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible agent at your own Teml data and ask it what happened to a user. The hosted Customer Detective copilot, our own AI running in-product with no setup, is included on Scale with 2,000 investigations a month.
- How do I get SSO, account roll-up, or data residency?
- Talk to us. None of these are self-serve today — they’re a conversation, not a column on this page, and they arrive with a dedicated plan once your organization needs them.
